My Challenge-My Son Poem by Nancy Hamann

My Challenge-My Son

I love you with every fiber in my being even when you challenge me
I wish that I could have done more to ease your pains while you were growing
Every corner we went around would either bring a smile or a frown
All the ups and downs that I have experienced raising you, I always wondered if you did it to amuse
You don’t seem to realize all you possess inside
You have so much love in your heart but won’t let others see that part
Your sense of humor always makes me smile as you did when you were a child
You want to hide the intelligence you have inside but you really should let it shine
Getting out of certain circumstances seems to be like a dance
I have always told you to use that talent for good that you surely could not lose
I wish I could do away with all your fears and not worry when you are not near
But I know deep inside that you need to live your life
Even though I may not always approve – I really do love you
I just pray that you will be okay and you will find all the things that I see inside
