My Didactic Dad Poem by SHAHNAWAZ AHMAD ANSARI

My Didactic Dad

If I could write a story about my daddy,
It would be the greatest ever told.
I'd write about my daddy's didactic tales,
For he had a heart of gold, but unsold.

My dad, he was no hero, but an inspiration to me
Known around this world.
He was everything to me,
For I was his doting very dear lad.

I'd write about the lessons he taught me.
He taught me the right from the wrong.
He instilled in me the values I ever carry
That one day I'd be strong enough.

He taught me to face my fears with temerity,
Take each day as it comes,
There are things that we can't change.
He would say what's done is done, no remorse.

He would say hold your head up high,
Carry yourself with pride.
Thanks to him, I am somebody, recognised
I will never run and hide.

If I could write a story about my daddy,
It would be the greatest ever told.
I'd write about my daddy's didactic tales,
For he had a heart of gold, but unsold.
