My Dog Watches Me Poem by Nathan Vigil

My Dog Watches Me

My dog watches me
as I stand at ease;
Report is called
I stand redy to draw.
My cheifton comes to me
'I charge you with amory guard
Tonight at nine.'
My dog watches me,
as I stand at the ready;
someone is coming, Ho!
I step to salute the stranger
my dog sstands laziely
The soul gets closer;
In to chalenge I go.
'Halt, identife yourself, please.' I say;
his weapon goes up in to salute
'Usagi George.' saith he;
'Identification proper, please.' I say to he.
The card he hands me
As he saith, 'I am the guard, Usagi Hi.'
I hand him his card.
We pass upon the right;
'you are dissmised, sir! ' saith he;
'The armory is yours, sir! ' say I to he;
To sheath my sword goes.
My dog walks to my side watching
My feet move up and down;
At home...
My dog watches me
as I stand at ease.
