My Doings Poem by Keel Lincoln

My Doings

People sometimes get silly feelings,
And make strange dealings,
Of eccentric doings,
That never they could do,
Claiming it all for the “love I have for you, ”
Silly things, that could never be done,
Like walking on the surface of the sun,
Or when offered a billion dollars, for you an offer they would shun,
The thing they want other than you, there is none
I would wonder what drives such a ridiculous run,
That people would truthfully say they’d do the undone,
I would wonder; what feelings would claim such rhymes.
Then I noticed you, standing out,
As amongst whispers a great shout,
An equally silly feeling I had,
Soon I would admit to doings,
That never I could do,
Just that I might hear you say, “I love you too”
I’d sail across the raging ocean to Japan,
Walk from Spain to Thailand,
Fight in the armies of Genghis Kahn,
Carve you a cello with one hand,
Groom all the llamas in the land,
If only, if only, to hear you say,
And sincerely mean today,
As I do to you
I love you too.
