My eyes are full with wonderment and love
When'er I see the beauty fixed above -
The sun, the moon, the planets in their train
The clouds which grow, and pregnant with sweet rain.
And then to see the birds within the trees
When building nests amongst the rustling leaves -
There are so many treasures to behold
The sky at dawn with colours tipped with gold.
And thus at even-tide when darkness falls
Are shadows falling soft upon the walls -
And stars that glisten bright in night's embrace
I'm so entranced to see this grand showcase.
My eyes then held you in the morning light
And so again to bid a sweet goodnight -
Through all the stormy days that we once knew
I felt, with tender heart, the love of you.
My eyes are also windows to my soul
So urging for your heart to full console -
When I am in the depths of deep despair
I long to see a sign that you still care.
My eyes now search the love you once did hold
Yes, even though you rest with aspect cold -
I look with hopefulness to see a sign
A sign that tells me you are yet still mine.
