My Eyes In My Pocket Poem by moon batchelder

My Eyes In My Pocket

my eyes in my pocket
my teeth on the shelf,
was ever a creature
absurd as myself?

filling my insides
with coffee and smoke.
breezing through life
like a practical joke.

and yet i am awesome,
a goddess, no less!
this excellent vessel
such joy to possess.

this ticklish mind
with it's wonderful thoughts,
so broad and surreal.
this compassionate heart.

tho no one is flawless,
and sure not i!
we plsy at perfection
from birth til we die.

and we're smart if we know
all of life is a game.
and forget who we are,
but not why we came.
