My First Day In Japan Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

My First Day In Japan

My first day in Japan, a land so bright and bold
Landed in the land of cherry blossoms, the stories I was told
My darling daughter Sophie, walking hand in hand,
We wandered the streets, marvelling at the beauty around,

Wandering in the streets for food, our stomachs growling loud
Finding a place in front of the hotel, we join the bustling crowd
People were making octopus eggs on fire, a sight to behold
Aroma of street food, so fragrant, made my taste buds unfold

Eating at Egyptian restaurant, the food so exotic and new
Savoring every bite, every flavor, my senses imbued
Osaka Castle, a painting in beige, stands tall and grand
A symbol of resilience, a tribute to the country's land

Walking on the bridge over the rivers of Osaka, so serene
Watching the boats go by, the city's beauty, like a dream
How can I forget you, Japan, my love, your charm so rare
Your food to your sights, your people, you're beyond compare

Ramada Hotel, our home for a while, a warm and cozy place
The staff so welcoming, the amenities, like an embrace
Oh, beautiful Osaka, with your vibrant culture and history
Holds a special place in my heart, a memory so lovely

As the cherry blossoms bloomed, so did my love for you, Japan
A love that will last a lifetime, like the gentle spring breeze, a fan
Thank you for the memories, for the joy, and the fun
Until we meet again, my love, my heart's treasure, my sun.

Oh, Japan, my love, how can I forget thee,
The beauty of Osaka, the warmth of its people,
The cherry blossoms, the food, the culture,
A memory etched in my heart forevermore
