My Homeland Poem by Dr Shamim Ali

My Homeland

Oh, Homeland, so small a word
Yet with such power and grace
A symbol of pride and identity
That fills us with love and grace
A duty we must constantly uphold
To preserve its beauty and light
And in times of darkness and strife
Defend it with all of our might
For without a Homeland, we are lost
Like a body without a soul
Nothing more precious to us
Then the place that makes us whole
A shelter for family and friends
A blessing from the heavens above
We must cherish and protect it
With all the power of our love
For a Homeland cannot prosper.
Without the people who care
With skills and experience at hand
We must work and build and share
So let us be steadfast and true
In our love for our Homeland dear
For it is in our hands to shape
A future bright and free and clear
