My Friend Poem by John A. Hancock

My Friend

When I was a little boy
I had a special friend
He stay'd with me when I was sick
Until I was well again
We were always together
No one else could understand
No matter how much they taunt'd me
He ne'er left my hands
He dried my tears and made me smile
Pick'd me up when I was feeling down
He was the only one I could talk too
When no one else was around
Late at night tuck'd snug in my bed
At the ceiling I would stare
Close beside me calming my fears
Was my friend Fred the teddy bear
