My Heroine Poem by Ima Ryma

My Heroine

I was drunk and I fell into
The river alone late at night.
Passed out, the next thing that I knew
She had rescued me from my plight,
Jumping into the river and
Pulling me safely to the bank,
Gave CPR by mouth and hand.
Still alive, I had her to thank.
She stayed until the others came.
I looked around but she was gone,
Before I even got her name.
Because of her I would live on.

Unrecognized heroine, she,
By all the world except for me.
