My Husband's Going To Live Forever Poem by Patti Masterman

My Husband's Going To Live Forever

My husband's going to live forever;
Was just a random act of fate-
But he promised he would leave me never,
And my love never repudiate.

He was the noted Egyptologist;
His specialty, the preserved dead,
And he looked down, on forensic scientists
Studied that organ, removed from the heads.

His girlfriend called; he missed their date,
And stayed too long, at the corner bar:
He came home drunk, he came home late-
His brain's in a canopic jar.
