My Idea Of Heaven Poem by Sailing to windward

My Idea Of Heaven

Lord, in my heaven, the sun smiles warmth and laughter.
The sky and clouds have many bright colours - and we
gaze in wonder.
Rivers ride waterfalls, streams wave green wands, brooks babble mystery and all flow with fish.
Thirsts are slaked, gratefully; days and stomachs never hungry.
Night holds no darkness or terror, and the restless sea is a lullaby, hummed by a rocking chair.
Life's weft and warp are comfort and routine, as needed,
and to each may come delight, surprise, adventure and art, unfolded from dreams.
We live without fear of death, and when others die, we are not lost in grief but found in love.
You appear as my family, and as our neighbour too,
and you teach us that eternal vigilance enslaves,
and that real freedom is priceless and found eternally in love.
