My Journeying Diary Poem by Gio Masserati

My Journeying Diary

Dear Journeying Diary,

Setting like the wide, red burning sun
Is setting the tone
So as not to go
So very alone
I mightily fight
In calm retreat
For my man
He will come
Toward my being
When time is right
And he is ready
I do not weep
For singleness is
Temporarily being
My earthly covering

You, poems,
Get to see a part of me
Friends only dream
And man conspire
To have for their very own
But, No! A journal
It's only you I see
None need own me
Seek me
With all of your heart
I'm known
This private diary
I love open
For thee
To my beloved
As a deed
The key you have
You've always had
Consider this your treat
Not to be haughty
Just saying the facts

For in dark shadows
Of cornered mind's eye
Where hidden heart's desires
You will find most everything
Beneath the pillowed shrouds
