My Life Poem by Brooke Luchich

The story of my life, not a fairytale but also far from a nightmare,
I don’t have all the things that I want but I still have people who care.
Sometimes I look at all the bad things a lot more than I should,
And even though they’ve been horrible, they can’t outweigh the good.
I’ve lost a lot of things that meant the absolute world to me,
But life isn’t fair or easy and I shouldn’t have expected it to be.
I’ve cried my fair share of tears and had many days of feeling blue,
But I’ve had plenty of days filled with happiness and lots of smiles too.
Some days I have wanted to run away, run as far as I could go,
I stayed though because being strong is the one thing that I know.
The mistakes that I have made are huge and I know that for sure,
But they’ve given me the strength to pick myself up when I hit the floor.
I may not have it all but I’ve learnt to love everything that I’ve got,
I’ve gotta make the most of everything in life because you only get one shot.
So although things can get tough and sometimes I just want to run away,
I know that time is limited and so I make the most of each and every day.
