My Light Heart Poem by hira andrew

My Light Heart

my heart is the opposite of light
and you can choose the homograph you'd like.

my heart is the opposite of light
my heart is heavy
it's heaving and thrusting
against my ribcage
i feel it; heavy, tearing, wrecking
my heart is crushing
it can't stand its own weight
it's weighing me down
i'm falling; sinking nd then swallowed whole
at least it's over; the weight is gone nd i am too
for, my heart is tarnished.

my heart is the opposite of light
my heart is dark
rip me open and watch me bleed
but to the naked eye there's a heart bled dry, black as tar
i'm dead; empty, hollow, gone
my blood is black as is my soul
i've been long dead; i'm now foul
rotten to the core, cut me open
you won't witness but capture a heart
iced over by grief
at least it's over; there's no more to feel nd the darkness feels kind
for, the darkness clasps around me; holding me close.
