My Little Boy Poem by Randy McClave

My Little Boy

Yesterday, you were my little boy
I bought you, your first little toy,
And together we played many games
And I remember you called me such funny names.
We shared and enjoyed the very same food
And you always said it was very good,
What I did you also wanted to try or do
Because, we were two.
Every night at bedtime I always read you a book
About magic and wonders and a brook,
Then I would sit and watch you go to sleep
Those are the greatest memories that I have to keep.
Wherever that I was, you were there also
Usually whatever you wanted us to do I would never say no,
I remember when you wanted to dress just like me
On every choice that I made you happily did agree.
We always did the very same things together
And we shared and loved the very same mother,
You always said until time does come to an end
That you will always be my very best friend.
Many promises together we did pinky swear
And always for you I was proudly there,
That love I had for you no one could ever sever
You were my friend today, but my loving son forever!
I remember all the places that you and I went too
And all the times we said to each other, "I Love You",
I was the greatest person you loved in the world
Then when you became a man, I was replaced by your girl.
