My Little Girl Poem by Jeff Fleischer

My Little Girl

Rating: 4.1

My little girl,
How I wish I had not been shipped out right before your fifth birthday.
How I wish they had sent me home to see you earn your girl scout badge.
How I wish I was not on guard duty when you were getting over 'the love of your life.'
How I wish I was not in a foxhole while your date was picking you up for the prom.
How I wish I could have been at your wedding instead of being in Vietnam.
