My Little Princess, Poem by James Sebastiani

My Little Princess,

My Little Princess, by James Sebastiani

From the first day i saw you, so tiny and fragile,
My little Princess, ever so beautiful,
I held you in my arms, with tears in my eyes,
Overcome with emotion, unable to realise,

That as you would grow, what joy you would bring,
Going to the park, feeding the ducks, a swing on the swing,
Playing with toys, helping me to cook,
Please Dad....just one more story, from the big story book,

Christmas time, letter's to Santa, milk and cookies,
Then a surprise in the morning, gifts....and look, he's,
Left a note, thanking you for your generosity,
Something that would stay with you, an endearing quality,

So gentle and kind, loving and caring,
Thoughtful, compassionate, unselfish and sharing,
A friend to your friends, a shoulder to cry on,
They know you're someone that they can rely on,

So now you're a young woman, my heart bursts with pride,
Knowing you're carrying my Granddaughter inside,
A wonderful Mother i know you will be,
You'll teach her, and love her, unconditionally,

Do all the things with her, you enjoyed when you were young,
Cuddle her often, hold her hand, listen and talk, among
many other things, i'm sure you already know....
One last line, i must add to this poem though,

Don't forget to tell her about the butterflies!

"Happiness is a butterfly, which when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp,
but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you"
