New Life

Since the birth of the Universe, you've patiently waited,
But without consciousness, without substance,
While all around you, are born, created,
Countless before you, life in abundance,

Still you wait...it seems like forever,
Floating around, in a quantum soup,
Slowly the pieces amass together,
Sentient beings, begin to group,

Till finally, two are chosen, brought together,
Destined to be joined, in a loving embrace,
A bond that will join them forever,
For between them they will create, a new member of the human race,

Something that's always been there, but never existed,
Until now, fate has determined, in a world that is rife,
Through the eons, you've doggedly persisted,
Now it's your turn, you are conscious, a beautiful new life.
