My Lost Dreams Poem by Edwina Reizer

My Lost Dreams

Where are the dreams that came to me?
They're lost inside my reverie.
They seemed so alive for a little while
but now they've disappeared.
It's as if I could almost touch them
but now it's as I feared.

They flew away.
They escaped my head
while I lay in bed.
I almost had them in my grasp.
I tried to hold them tight.
But along came fate and away they flew
like little birds in flight.

I watched them fly away from me
and felt the sadness come.
Now those brilliant tones I heard
have dwindled to a hum.
Now all the dreams that came to me,
no longer can I see.
They are lost. They are lost
and I am lost at sea.
