My Kingdom Poem by Edwina Reizer

My Kingdom

The piano bench has become my throne.
I rule the keys I play.
I shift around on it sometimes
but I always have my say.

I rule the tempo and the tune.
They follow my decree.
The throne is sometimes overwhelming
because it's ruling me.

I wear no crown upon my head,
no velvet on my clothes.
I wear the gems of musical tones
and the rhythm on my toes
