My Love...Then Even The Water Was Blue Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

My Love...Then Even The Water Was Blue

Rating: 5.0

Clock striking the eleventh hour
And
I sit and watch
And wait
For your return...
Looking out into the night from my
Captain's perch
Remembering you
And yesterday
When even the water was blue.
The lights steal on across the harbor;
Vehicles creep on the distant bridge
Their headlights - search lights
In the mist...
Perhaps lighting the way to guide
You home...I pray.
I reflect again
Remembering your smile, your laughter
And again that yesterday
Even the water was blue -
Now, it and I
Are cold
And longing for you!

I love this poem...I wrote it while on a friend's boat...the guy was recently divorced and sharing some photos of his family (wife and kids) and I made the remark that then 'Even the water was blue' and immediately this poem was on my heart and had to be written...a must read, I think...
