MY LOVER IS IN PARADISE
I have seen too many bright things
On the other side,
More than the gleam of angels’ wings-
For my lover fair
There
Does abide.
With snow-clad hair,
And a smiling gaze,
She plays with her girlish, dark-browed haze,
Beneath the celestial sky,
In dales of sunny, noonday maize,
Almost half-asleep,
By the sea;
And in her pristine beauty
I quake
In ways
That make
Me
Weep
And sigh.
