My Mandate Poem by Ifegwu Victor

My Mandate

Rating: 5.0

They came requesting for it
my mandate!
requesting for my right
with sugary mouths
they showered promises on me
which in exchange for it, will give me

when the day came for me to give it
I stood in endless queues of heads
with the sun giving room to the rain
which caused us to scatter
but, with shivers later gather

And when the time came
I was bewildered of who to
among they, give it to

Then, with a mind scale
I weigh they all
and their promises weigh I also

Alas!
I was unable to decide
who, why,
I should my mandate give.
