My Mind's Leopard Poem by Masiela Lusha

My Mind's Leopard

Rating: 5.0

I cannot chain you.
I shut my eyes, and there you dive
Against the backdropp of veined darkness,
Roaming in the jungle of my starry mind,
Indulged like the lazy leopard
You are. Dangerous in all your nature.
One strike out of your space,
(Like a yellow bullet through my mind)
And my eyes dart open.

I cannot sleep with an animal in my head,
Licking the edge of my skill with a purr,

Can you?

Cool poem. Rich metaphor. Great ending.I find my mind races at night and will not shut down even when I try to sleep. Still, I would not tame it for anything. I like the description of your eyes darting open, and I like the question at the end of the poem. Excellent read!
