Waking up to the hissing noise of the pressure cooker,
Sweat soaking my mother's rosy cheeks,
A life barely lived inside the walls of the kitchen,
My mother neither yielded nor complained.
I gaze at her dreary face & worn out physique,
Swallowing her breath and cooking meals,
Decades have elapsed, but the mundaneness of her life prevails.
I imagine my mother's snippets from the past,
A joyous innocent girl looking bright,
Dreaming of a wonderful life with hopeful eyes.
Now cornered deep into a claustrophobic space.
