My Mother's Day Poem by Tony Adah

My Mother's Day

Crusty memories stitch my tattered
Heart of a remembered day
Pallbearers shouldered a casket
Of mohagony tempered with gold plates
The occupant smiling silently;
I remember the remnants of
Mother's laughter
Now turned into my 0wn sorrow.

I have lost my voice
To a stream of tears
Rills that form rivers on my cheeks
Can my memories be carried
In the currents of these rivers
Downstream?
Or I will need to wait for a season
To dry the rivers and leave a bed
Of barren memories
In my fertile head
What mother did that made me a man
O mother!
