My Promised Land Poem by Robert Edgar Burns

My Promised Land

Your name flows freely
Right off of my lips.
Like the milk and honey
From my fingertips.

It’s a mystery just why you love me.
You pull me through each day.
Just knowing you’ll be waiting,
Keeps me from going astray.

In order to make you happy,
I’d go to any length.
You ask me why I love you?
You’re where I get my strength.

I love you girl, I love you.
Let the whole world know it’s true.
If the words I say can’t make you stay,
Then just look into my baby blues.

Sunshine can’t compare to the
Moonlight in your hair.
If you’ll let me take your hand,
I’ll lead you to our promised land.

Together we’ll jump life’s hurdles.
The strength comes to us from above.
Whether we be hares or turtles,
What we do will be guided by love!

Why do I march in your valley?
Who could stand against this man?
I’ve girded myself with your armor,
For you are my promised land!
