My Protection Poem by Randy McClave

My Protection

If it were your selection
Would you hide me for my protection,
Would you take hold of my arm
To protect and then hide me from harm.
If a mad mob came looking for me
Because in my beliefs or my thoughts they didn't see,
Would you quickly hide me away
Until they stopped looking for me that day.
Would you give me that surety and relief
So, I wouldn't experience any pain or grief,
Would you hide me from that type of people or person
Those who enjoy making the life of those different worsen.
Would you help me with yourself if knowing
That hate was outside of our houses was growing,
Because of my ethnicity or the color of my skin
Or maybe from where I have traveled or have been.
One fact that I know which is true
I know that for a fact I would undoubtedly protect you,
If I knew harm unto you was going to be done
I would take hold of your hand, and then run.
My family had proudly protected and hid the Jews
So, hiding you I would knowingly choose,
And I know God most certainly would be on my side
So, for your safety and protection, you I would hide.
