My Redeemer Poem by Ruth Game

My Redeemer

Rating: 5.0

When I was blue, nobody knew,
I smiled to deceive them,
Cause I didn't believe them.
They’d console me in front,
& laugh at my back,
Being happy that I
Am not very glad.

But you Lord, saw through me
& asked me what’s wrong,
I spoke in dismay
Asking why do you care?
He laughed at my ignorance,
& said my dear child
I know how you’re feeling
But I love to hear you speaking.

I then asked him why?
When you know what’s in there
The pain & the sorrow
You put me in there.
Again He smiled,
& said don’t be naive
The pain that I give you
Will only make you wiser.

I don’t want your tears,
Your sorrows or your fears,
All I want is your trust,
& some of your time.
I gave you the sunshine,
The clouds & the rain
I gave you four seasons,
To enjoy the change.
I gave you a long day,
& night to rest your toil,
I gave my blessings,
But they all went in vain.

Instead of seeking pleasure
In friends & in treasure,
If only you could see,
I give more than these.
I give you the strength
To fight every day
To be strong & prudent
To be happy in your day
You chose me over riches,
& friends who betrayed.
You ran after people
Who laughed at your gait.

This money, these friends, these riches & trends
Will not last forever, to give you your rest,
One day when they’re gone,
& you’re shattered & torn,
I’ll still be here to hold you
To caress you & mold you.

All I ask is your trust,
Some time & some faith,
I’ll be by your side
As your best friend.

I then looked up & said to Him,
Help me Lord, I can’t fit it,
He smiled & said my child
You were never made for them.
