My Sanctuary Poem by Rik Bertrand

My Sanctuary

I have my private place, a sanctuary to escape to,
I found it deep inside myself, and I go there when blue.
I have filled the empty space with treasure of my soul,
Of all my life events that I comfort and console.

Sometimes I will sit for hours looking out into the abyss,
Wondering if there is something out there amiss.
I think of the past and the true loves that I had,
And sometimes, just sometimes I get a little sad.

But my Sanctuary is mostly a happy and loving place,
Where I can come and relax, and escape the frantic race.
A hidden room in a world that no one will ever know,
In a time that is slow and only old memories flow.

Sanctuary, room of peace, meadow in my mind,
I love sitting here and reminiscing, seeing all that is kind.
I am at peace when you surround my soul, and carry me away.
Love and life is so very, very fine, sitting here on this lonely day.

REB (JULY 2012) everyone has that place to go to reminisce and be happy
