My School Friend Poem by Sankhajit Bhattacharjee

1.

My school friend ended his life.
Everybody is telling,
'It's because of his mother'.

2.

His mother is thrice married-
he was the issue of her first husband:
they separated because her in-laws were quarrelsome.
She separated from the second one
as he was a drunkard.
The poor chap died on the day the case ended.
The third marriage was not in any
Govt. or private or public record!

3.

He could not bear the insult.
So he...

4.

His mother is telling,
'His girl friend cheated him...
I have found a new love'.
