My Son Didn't Have My Back Poem by Randy McClave

My Son Didn't Have My Back

I didn't marry for love or desire
Or even for some fun,
There was only reason that I married again
And it was all because of my son.
My son didn't need another parent
As he was already grown and raised,
For years he was my pal and my best friend
So, he didn't need to be praised.
He had his toys and his many friends
He was popular and happy and always glad,
But, I didn't have anyone else to spend time with
So, I constantly remained lonely and sad.
The reason that I remarried was simple
As it is now written on my hanging wall plaque,
I was alone and vulnerable when I went to Scotland
"MY SON DIDN'T HAVE MY BACK".

It is treacherous to be lonely. This small poem brings out the need for company for everyone -to share the ups and downs of life. Man is a social animal - I learnt this from my father when I was a kid, without understanding the meaning. Poem that touches one's heart! .
