My Spirit's Reason Poem by Pete Tine

My Spirit's Reason

Rating: 4.2

I awaken from an autumnal nap and shower with the morning dew.
It matters not what day it is, as long as I have you.
November labors to usher in frozen remembrances of joyous times.
It sweats grey skies for its noble efforts, exhaling heavenly chimes.
The wind turns a cold shoulder, blowing down familiar roads.
Mourners huddle together, chanting melancholy odes.
Leaves rustle about, searching for a final resting place.
Snow beds them down, blanketing a frosty, hard-fought race.

Musical notes now join together for a line-dance through my ears.
My heart eternally rejoices for all its pleasure over the years.
The familiar jingle from red kettles can be heard throughout the land.
Everything will be redeemed as we take each other's hand.

Hope moves in on sadness as it vanishes without a trace.
We step together and hasten our lives to a newfound, heavenly pace.
I press my callused hands together in thanks to the great physician.
I lift my eyes upward to the sky and behold my new position.
I raise my arm in victory and high-five the impending season.
I'll love you forever, no matter what...
... you are my spirit's reason...
