My Sweetest Downfall Poem by Art Aquino

My Sweetest Downfall

I've built my world around her, hoping that she could see
Just like that, the world crushed down on me
I took the risk, for the stakes are high
High I was before, now poignant and blue like the sky.

I was dumbfounded by this thing called love,
It was too hasty, and beat me off-guard.
Helpless I am, and was looking for protection.
The reason of my happiness was the reason of my depression.

This piece of clothing will never be the same,
As it braces my body, it strikes a chord of your name;
Your name, brings a lot of memories in my mind
There would be no other like you, even I try to find.

I can't believe that there's nothing out of something
Is it well played? Or I was much assuming.
I guess it is on me to put the blame,
I was blinded by love now I'm burned by the flame.

My expectation was never like reality
Now the consequences I face, and it kills me.
I may not be the best, but I am worth it
If you'd change your mind, would you be mine to keep?
