I bought my airline tickets yesterday
My heart says and sing hip hip hooray,
Soon once again I will be on my way
As I'll be flying to Edinburgh this coming May.
I am so excited for my soon coming trip
As I'll be traveling by plane and not by train or ship,
Sometimes on reality I can't hold or grip
Soon, I'll be on the outstrip.
On the first day that I arrive in Scotland
That day has already been created and planned,
As on the Royal Mile I will stand
Food my body will rumble and then demand.
Soon, I'll be enjoying a full Scottish breakfast meal
Which I believe the body and the soul it does heal,
And when I dine on it I will enjoy it with a zeal
Satisfaction, I won't be able to conceal.
For a tour guide I will not pay a cost
Where I head or visit is a moments thought,
Where I head I have not yet sought
And I enjoy getting lost.
l will visit the monuments and the many sights
From which a poet writes,
Where once stood maidens and knights
Which bring the heart dreams and delights.
Maybe then I will meet a beautiful Scottish ginger
From which no man did insult or injure,
Maybe we will both enjoy a Scottish dinner
And of course I'd be the winner.
Maybe we will dine on Haggis, Tatties and Neeps
Which they place on the plates into delicious stunning heaps,
From pleasure and taste the palate reaps
And then when the food is gone, the soul weeps.
No, no, no whiskey or scotch at all for me
Please, bring we water, because I am alcohol free,
I hope not to offend my company
When they notice a teetotaler I must be.
Then after the first day I'll head back to my flat
My home away from home where I'm staying at,
I will be to exhausted to write and to tired to chat
I'll close my eyes and I'll quickly fall asleep on my mat.
