My Tribute To Free Speech Poem by Nichole Kaci McKnight

My Tribute To Free Speech

As the cliché goes; April showers bring May flowers.
Back in the Sixties many spoke of flower power.
Throwing the peace sign is still in vogue.
Some people preferred peace to war, I’ve been told.
I hope this war ends before I get too old.
Ode to the burning bras, protests, and even the sit in.
Then again, can’t we all just be friends again!
This tribute is to the Sixties and free speech.
I write this to illicit free speech and help to teach.
