My Two Hands Poem by A.E.J. Jordan

My Two Hands

Rating: 4.0

On my last day as me on earth
The things that mean the very most
When all together will expand
No further than my own two hands

They’ve always said love conquers all
But not today, not anymore
The race, the looks, the money, the age
What people “think” is all the rage

The nameless people are who decide
What’s supposed to be and what to hide
It’s what they think and what they’ll say
So they won’t look and stare your way

It’s what they find unsuitable
That supersedes what I’ve been told
We all know life is full of pain
Why not have love to stand the strain?

What does it mean to be in love
But not together just because?

What really matters in the end
Will be the love I’ve felt and received
To hell with people that supersede

And in the end love may not conquer all
But when I look at my life span
It will be the people that I’ve loved
That I’ll be holding in my two hands
