My Venus Poem by William McGehee

My Venus

She stands a statue, beauty shown
In arms, and face, and heart of stone.
Still as death all smooth and gray
Where warmth of life is never known.

As time moves past, in silence stays
She of long forgotten days
Never stirs or breaths a sigh
Locked within a longing gaze.

For all the beauty in her eyes,
In figure true and formed comprised
Captured there by sacred art,
No thought of love within me lies

Her stony features could not start
To comfort me, a man apart
A living Venus holds my heart.
A living Venus holds my heart.
