My Voice - Poem by Valerie Dohren

My Voice -

My voice, slipped away quietly,
stolen by a whisper in the wind -
captured in the grasp of silence,
never to be released.
Words lost forever.
My voice, not heard, not embraced,
nor held in the barrel of my pen.

My voice, keeper of unspoken words,
now languishes in obscurity, and,
like a bird with a broken wing,
cannot reach the heights
of expression or recognition.
My voice, tempered through adversity,
withheld and muted.

My voice - lost, in the dark night of the soul.
