My Wife Poem by Anshul Gupta

My Wife

The first time I saw you
I knew you were the one
The bell in my heart was so loud
I was stunned!

Your oiled hair
and the sweetness of your smile
Your simplicity made you look
all the more fragile
I was badly wounded at first sight
Julia Roberts seemed powerless to me
compared to your might.

I remember the attempts in vain
I made calling you
Just wanted you to know that I liked you
I was not allowed to speak to you
by your brother
who every time offered
one excuse or the other.

I remember how you declined
my offer to dropp you home
Embarrassed, I fled from the scene
back to my home
I promised myself I would forget you
But the very next day I found myself on phone
trying to contact you.

On the other side
your brother was still making
love with the phone
it appeared that
he never let the phone alone.

I used to visit to your home
on the pretext of exchanging notes
Oh My God
you looked so hot!

Your dad was no less than a terror
Looking at him
I was sure I had
committed some error.

Our courtship was the golden period
of our life
My last few bachelor breaths
before you became my wife!

On our wedding
day you looked like a red rose
How on our Shimla honeymoon
We almost froze.

I have still kept it a secret
how you held the camera opposite
at 180 degrees
and quite enthusiastically
asked me to say cheese!

Our two children
the mark of our true love
taught us the meaning of selfless love
nurturing their best abilities is now
among our top priorities.

Our time for each other gets limited
by your home life and my business
but it doesn't matter my baby
for our love is timeless.

I see myself in you
and am sure you do too
for this is called love when it doesn't matter
who is who.

You are my inspiration
the partner in my inner and outer success
without you I feel lonely
my life surrounded by emptiness.

I want to spend with you my whole life
When I get old I want you to be by my side.

Seasons will come
many will go
Oh! my beautiful
everyday I find myself
loving you all the more.

Thanks for making my life worth
You are the best wife on this earth
Our love as it is
I promise we will be together
in this birth and the next birth.
