Sit you down friend as I fill our rum goblets
Let the worries vanish with a happy sigh
This bread has gone unbroken far too long
Let us greet the evening at this crossroad
Tell me first what brings you joy
We can save our tales of woes for another day
I am here to tend to our friendship
Let us now return to ourselves
Tell me that which lights your fire
I know the adventurer is in all that you do
No matter the task at hand
Let's bask in the glow of rum and memories
Tell me stories of your day-to-day
The simplest things reveal just who you are
Now let me thank you for your perspective
Let goblets clink to your loyalty and wisdom
In the wee hours with eyes shining clear
We toast to our good fortunes and daring
We swear an oath to our continued defiance
Ring goblets again! my wonderfully deplorable friends!
A lovely gathering of friends. Sometimes all we need is to gratify our social instincts. The company of friends...lively chatter, bantering, recollecting old times...a perfect time. Yes, the reader is full to the brim by the intoxicating power of this write. A10
Please fill my goblet again with the rum of your poesy. I enjoyed this poem for its exquisite beauty. I am elated having sipped my goblet in the wee hours. That is the simplest I can be and does that reveal who I am? (10)

What a tribute to the power and warmth of friendship! Edmund, you have serious poetic skills and remarkable topics and I can't think of anything more pleasant than having wonderful deplorable friends to spend an evening with... well... ahem... maybe I can think of one more wonderful person to spend a deplorable evening with... ;) Loved this piece- -it is so deserving of Poem of the Day- - I wonder if the powers to be would pay attention to a letter to them bagging to make this P.O.T.D.....10++++++++++++++++++++++++++ and adding this to my Dav List
Is it wrong that I would prefer a ham and cheese hoagie over the Poem of the day? I usually find the writings not to my liking so I gave up on reading. If that is awful to say, well then call me Mr. Awful. I read your reply and after reading about your daughter being so warmly loved and missed your poem rang true. Leaving me to wish for you only sunny days and many glad moments with your sweet daughter. If that is not what life is about then I am missing the point of this thing called life. These moments with your daughter, happy and electric days are so much more than any Poem of the day. One of the little nuggets of truth that I always wished I had as a younger man.....so it goes! Wishing you sunshine and many happy days with your daughter! !
