My Words Poem by John Howard Davies

My Words

MY WORDS
220 words

These are the words that I preferred
dangerously stirred in a sentence
these are some thoughts
that were misunderstanding-lye brought
by a bout of ridiculous nonsense

There are none hidden or even forbidden
as they take their place here on this paper
they stretch out their letters in lines neatly fettered
that couldn't be possibly safer

No hidden agendas or words of a nature
that curl up and sleep in ones mind
which are awoken by thoughts of battles we'd fought
way back in our own time

These words have some meaning
and some may need cleaning
after the rants and the rages
but they will always be here
year after year
tucked away safe on these pages

Describing the wins the laughs and the grins
the tears and the pain and the sorrow
the pride that is felt when our hearts just melt
and stays with our every tomorrow

No words can explain how to feel rain
for none of us feel it the same
we learnt all these words
that we use when we're stirred
and sometimes to point out the blame

These words are not mine
that I write in these lines
but are here to be used and be heard
in many strange tongues out they might come
but only the ones I preferred.
