Naive To Believe Poem by Hallie Angel

Naive To Believe

The innocence of simply talking.
The want to be face to face.
The words of “I want to go at my own pace”
So naïve to believe he’d understand.
So naïve to believe all he wanted was to hold my hand.
A meeting spot to say hello.
Makes the first move.
I say no.
Pulls me close.
I appose.
So naïve to believe he just simply liked me.
So naïve to believe he would never fight me.
I walk away not noticing the signs.
Signs of want in his eyes.
Signs of his lies.
So naïve to believe I was just being paranoid.
So naïve to believe I was being set up to be destroyed.
We meet again.
It begins again but this time no time to spend
So naïve to believe nothing would happen.
His legs on mine.
Chills running down my spine.
The touch of his lips over powering mine.
Only repeated in a matter of time.
His hands grabbing me.
Please just let me free.
Arm wrapped around my neck.
Eyes shut tight.
Pressure from the bite.
His grasp is stronger.
I cant bare it any longer.
Attempts to break away.
Holds on tighter to make me stay.
So naïve to believe he was what he said.
So naïve to believe he didn’t just want to take me to bed.
Home at last.
Never broken into tears so fast.
Nothing but guilt and pain.
My heart is in a complete strain.
Results are unreal.
Im too numb to even feel
To feel anything but sadness.
To feel the wounds that are bound to heal.
And to feel the wounds that are too real to heal.
Left with fear of the unknown.
Never wanting to be alone.
Left with nightmares of the awful night.
Left to fight with all my might.
To fight the world.
To fight myself.
To fight my fears.
The fears that bring me to tears.
Left to see that I was so naïve to believe that something like this could happen to me….
