Namaste Poem by kimberly hays

It was always so easy to point out the wrong
Because the right was not aggressive
So I have fallen to the sins of my father
I did not understand you
Instead of seeking clarification
I sought judgment and change
But I never accepted
The things I hated
Oh how I hated
You never knew that the words I whispered
Were for you
But they were
Those words were for everyone against me
My ego leads me to believe that was you
And you
And you
And the list grows
I am tired of always being right
When the course to get there is wrong
When the path that brings me to what I thought I needed
Is paved in the blood of my sisters and my brothers
So I prayed
To a higher being for love
For the love I could not find myself
Being human
I was held down
Here are the words to my most private prayer

"Help me
Because when I open my eyes I cannot help myself
Teach me
That the price of love is openness and hope
Not conformity
Lift me
So that my eyes do not always fall on the shadows
But on the ridges of intense light
So that I may see the hopes and best
In all whom I meet
Show me the purer side to love
That is not self seeking
And somehow lead me home
From these dark places I have been living"

If this prayer means anything to you
As it does to me
Find the moment where you find the words
To say you're sorry
Because even in rightness
I have been wrong
Even in truth
I have lied
I lie no more this day
I love you
Not as I want you to be
But as you are
Perfect peace
Perfect love
