Near The Bridge By The River

Rating: 5.0

Cess lives in the blue caravan
not far, we both live here.
In this park
near the bridge
by the river.
During the frost of winter.

There’re ducks over there
near the bridge.
Like us they live here too
least they do
all duck shooting season through,
on that stretch of river.

Cess has been to Australia
Like me, in search of dreams
I suppose I searched for too.

A Great Dane
stands on the corner
with eyes so sad,
does he see humanity as I
and grieve from the heart
he looks so sad?

While I watch
a duckling
fighting against the current
struggles
to keep up with its mother
finally washed away.
I grieve for it
and strive for its rescue.
To return it to its place.
