I 'Hands up children, who has a pet? '
The teacher said to the Year 6 set.
'I have a mouse called 'Pickles' says Sam
'Miss! I'm on a farm with sheep and lambs'
'I've got a goat called 'Nana' says Wendy
'And I've got a ferret who's supple and bendy! '
'Do you know what I have Miss? It's ever so rare
I've got 'Bounce' a sleek, brown hare.
' I have a fish but it just swims all day
It's not really a pet 'cause it doesn't play.'
'Well, thank you class, some unusual pets
Hands down now' says Miss Lynette
'Shall I tell you what I have at home? '
I have a dog who answers the phone.
And a cat who makes me tea,
Two other cats makes that three
Two house bunnies called 'Ant and Dec'
And a cockatoo who likes to peck
In the garden two horses graze
And on my patio pigs grunt and laze
So you can see that I have a menagerie complete
I knew for you all that would be hard to beat.
So, down to work and write me a verse
Before the bell goes and you all disperse. '
