When 'nought' and 'thought' weren't those
they still rhymed as 'not' and 'thot'.
Same probably goes
for 'caught' and 'bought' -
'cot' and 'bot'.

Long after 'shoon' and 'stoon' had gone,
for 'shone' and 'stone',
poets still rhyme the latter two -
and readers read 'ston' and 'shone'
and 'stone' and 'shown'.

Once you could rhyme
'Ytaille' and 'vitaille';
but 'Italy' and 'vital' -
the title.

Aloha Douglas and Cheers Mate! Would it be we yet spake now as then... when the engrish was not held hostage to machines and money... word wrights held some of the highest civilian positions and were certainly the best of entertainers... hard to say this for the modern crowing crowds that pander for whatever herein... Thank you for a fine exhibit of prose! All of the best from this life, to you, and to all of our relations... Michaelw1two
