Never Finished What We Started Poem by Ray Hansell

Never Finished What We Started

I remember when you and I
Were the apple in each other's eyes
When we could we'd hold hands
Our feelings we did understand
Sneaking off to be alone
Our love, to others was unknown
When together things were right
Together in the daytime, seperated at night
My eyes could see no one else
Your heart, was like a book on a shelf
There by itself and lonely
I wanted you for my one and only
When my eyes first looked at you
It was then that my heart knew
You were the one out there for me
But being together foreve, that would never be
The years quickly passed us by
We never got the chance to say goodbye
Just one day you were gone
Both of our lives slowly moved on
It would be many years until we'd meet again
It brought back memories of us back then
They rushed over me like a wave
But the love we shared couldn't be saved
I saw her again the other day
But there wasn't much left to say
But it was nice seeing her again
I realized what I lost would have been my gain
I gave her a great big hug
Emotions of my heart were tugged
Once again we have parted
Never finishing what long ago we stared
