New Doll Poem by Angela Wybrow

New Doll

Very carefully,
I fold back the flaps
of white tissue paper,
to reveal the
precious jewel within.

As soon as
I set eyes upon her,
my heart melts,
but, at the same time,
it swells with love;

I lift her out of the
pastel pink and blue,
boutique-style box,
and, instinctively,
hug her tightly
towards me -
A beaming smile
lighting up my face;
Pure joy pulses
through my veins.

I set her back down,
but can't stop myself
looking at her face,
over and over again:

A face unlike any
I've ever seen before:
A face, so sincere;
A face, so full
of cheer;
A face so full
of hope and joy,
Of Innocence and beauty.

The smooth, radiant,
melanin-rich skin,
of her beautiful face,
oozes warmth,
and possesses a
pretty, pearlescent shine,
topped off by
rose kissed cheeks,
which give her
a happy, healthy glow.

Her beautiful brown eyes
seem to be
brimming with life:
They catch the light,
and sparkle like diamonds.

Her long, dark brown hair
dances lightly
across her shoulders,
and tumbles down
her back in
soft, natural waves.

She's way beyond
expectation:
Her photo
in the catalogue,
having done her
very little justice.

A rare beauty among her kind.
